hey everyone this is Alan Lepofsky here and I'm going to give you a quick tutorial on how to use a custom template in Office PowerPoint 2016 on Mac so say your company has a customized template and you want it to show up in file new from template here you only see the stock ones that are shipping from Microsoft and you also want it to appear in the design box so you can apply the design of that template to existing presentations well you have to do two things first of all let's open up the PowerPoint template that you have so here you can see my company's custom template and what I want to do is first I want to go to file save as template and you'll see here that it defaults to putting it in the right place which is in the templates folder of the group container office User Content blah blah blah directory but you don't really have to care about that just accept the default and hit save now you can create new presentations from that template you're going to see it show up right here but unfortunately at this stage you still can't go and apply it to existing presentations so what you want to do is go back to the one you were working on the one that is the template go to design and just simply save current theme come here and again it fills in the default directory for you it's in library group containers office User Content but you don't have to worry about it it's in the theme directory give it a name and hit save now you can apply that new theme to any of your existing presentations you'll see it's here in custom I can select it and new themes will appear I can go change layouts etc so there you have it two steps save it as a template save it as a theme and now your new PowerPoint template is available for use I hope that helps
